Radiocommunications Legislation Amendment Bill
The Radiocommunications Legislation Amendment (Reform and Modernisation) Bill was tabled in Parliament today. (28th August 2020)
Being a strong advocate for reform of Australia’s spectrum management framework, the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA) welcomes the amendment of this important legislation. A contemporary legislative framework to efficiently plan, allocate and manage radiofrequency spectrum is central to realising the full potential of mobile connectivity in our economy and society.
As with any legislative change the implementation of the amendments will ultimately provide the test for the effectiveness of the reforms. However, AMTA believes these reforms will have potential to improve the timely and efficient allocation of spectrum for 5G by introducing more flexibility and certainty for spectrum licence holders.
