Australian Government Releases New EME Safety Resources

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts has created a new set of resources to help explain Electromagnetic Energy (EME) safety at eme.gov.au. This is to support the deployment of wireless telecommunications networks and facilities in Australia.

The Australian Government’s Enhanced EME program has developed this Stakeholder Communications Toolkit for local governments, councils and planners. The toolkit provides resources to help planners understand how wireless facilities are designed to provide the best connection for communities, and with helpful information for local residents.

Supporting the toolkit are a number of explanatory Videos including ‘the need for wireless connectivity and its safety’. The toolkit provides key messages, creative assets and sample copy for you to use at your discretion.

Key messages can act as a guide for your staff when speaking with residents, customers and others. For example, constituents and customers with questions or concerns can be directed to the department’s resources. The materials include;

The website also gives links to detailed information from important safety bodies such as ARPANSA, ACMA, RFNSA and a statement from the Chief Medical Officer.

AMTA supports this move from The Department to bring EME safety into the spotlight.
