Planning for Mobile Connectivity in New Developments
The Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA) has prepared this factsheet to summarise recent changes to the Federal Government’s Telecommunications in New Developments (TIND) policy.
From February 2024, all housing projects of 50 dwellings or more must consider mobile infrastructure and coverage during planning – just like water, electricity, and fixed-line services. The factsheet helps developers understand requirements, assess existing coverage, and engage early with mobile network operators and infrastructure providers to ensure communities have reliable 4G and 5G connectivity. By integrating mobile infrastructure into structure plans, developers can enhance connectivity, safety, and liveability in new urban areas.
