About AMTA
AMTA is the trusted voice of Australia’s mobile industry.
Our mission supports an environmentally, socially and economically responsible, successful and sustainable mobile telecommunications industry in Australia.
As the peak body for the mobile telecommunications industry in Australia, we represent the views of mobile network operators, device manufacturers, retailers and suppliers. We promote sound policy, strong investment, sustainability, inclusion and innovation. We champion how mobile technology can keep Australians globally connected, productive and safe.
Our programs
AMTA proudly delivers positive change for all Australians. Our work includes:
- Spectrum: AMTA advocates for access to sufficient spectrum in a timely manner to meet future demand. We work to secure renewal of Mobile Spectrum Licences on terms that will release more capital for network investment.
- Infrastructure: AMTA streamlines processes for the responsible, effective, and efficient deployment of mobile infrastructure at a Commonwealth, State and Territory, and Local level.
- Safety: We implement and demonstrate conformance to Electromagnetic Energy (EME) standards, through our Radio Frequency National Site Archive (RFNSA.com.au), and manage the national lost and stolen device blocking program.
- Sustainability: AMTA manages MobileMuster –theglobally recognised industry‑funded product stewardship program which collects and recycles old mobile phones and accessories — reducing e‑waste and recovering valuable materials.
- Social Impact: AMTA supports a range of social impact initiatives, from digital inclusion for first nations communities (KARI foundation) to helping victim-survivors of domestic violence get their hands on a safe phone (DV Safe Phone).
- Future of Mobile: AMTA has partnered with Deloitte to deliver the Future of Mobile series throughout 2025-27, comprising several research outputs and messaging moments over this period. The campaign aims to raise awareness of mobile’s role in powering Australia’s future economy, society and AI, while providing an evidence base to advocate on key policy issues.
