ACMA EME Checker Reassures Mobile Networks are safe
Following an ongoing measurement program over several years and encompassing sites from all over Australia, the ACMA has developed a publicly accessible web portal which provides the real-time measured and calculated levels of EME from mobile base stations and compares them to the ARPANSA EME Report provided by Carriers, and the RF Safety Standard.
Members of the public can now use EME Checker to find the average electromagnetic energy (EME) from mobile phone base stations in tested areas. The EME Checker provides results in graphical and numerical formats and allows comparison of average and maximum levels across all sites or for individual sites, and for all frequencies and technologies at each site in tested areas.
The EME Checker will continue to expand as more sites, locations and technologies are added over time. Based on the measurement program to date, the ACMA says:
“Our EME measurement work shows that telcos are complying with our rules and that mobile base stations are safe.”
